Nick Jr. Books

Nick Jr. Books
This app is called Nick Jr. books. What makes this reading app different is that this app features many popular characters such as Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol and Blaze and the Monster machines. This app is also interactive and children can click on the animations and they move and make sounds. This can make reading more fun and engaging for the child to be able to click on the props in the story and they do something. Children also earn stars for every book they read which can encourage them to keep meeting their reading goals in order to earn more stars. Nick Jr. books also gives children the option to read the books or listen to them as an audiobook. This can be a good way for school librarians can read a story to elementary school children for storytime with an iPad or students can read or listen to it on their own.
The price is the first three books are free and any other books after that are $2.99 each. It is only available on iOS devices. I am a little disappointed there is no packages for this app and even though the app features characters that children know and love, this app can get really pricy over time.
While I think the books might be more engaging for children because it features characters they know, I don’t think the price is worth it. While the interactive part is fun for the students to click on and play with, I think it can be distracting at times and could take away from them actually reading. Children can read several small books a day and the $3 price tag on each book just isn’t worth it to me.
